As we all know, today's society has developed to the point where every commodity needs to be packaged, and every package needs to be printed. Printing is one of the most important decorations and processing methods for product packaging. Printing plays the role of transmitting information and promoting products. At the same time, for some commodities, printing also plays an important anti-counterfeiting role. Today's packaging printing is developing in the direction of being more exquisite and increasing the added value of goods.

Printing is divided into the following six categories:

Traditional classification: according to the layout structure of the printing plate

1. Letterpress printing

Any printed image and text is higher than the blank part, and the ink is coated around the image and text, and the printing method of copying the image and text imprint to the surface of the printed matter through the action of pressure is called letterpress printing.

2. Lithographic printing (offset printing)

Now it is customary to call offset printing lithographic printing. The graphics and blank parts of the printing plate are on the same plane. Through the principle of separation of color, ink, oil, and water, the graphics and texts are finally transferred to the surface of the printed matter.

3. Gravure printing

Gravure printing and letterpress printing are just the opposite, the graphic part is concave, while the blank part remains in the original plane. The graphic part accepts the ink layer, and through the pressure of the printing cylinder, the ink layer is transferred to the surface of the printed matter, and the printed product is copied.

4. Filter printing (screen printing)

Screen printing is typical of filter plate printing. The ink penetrates through the mesh of the fabric and reproduces the graphics on the surface of the substrate.

The above four methods are called the four printing methods.

The development of modern printing, it can also be divided into the following categories:

5. Flexographic printing (belonging to letterpress printing)

At the beginning of the flexographic plate, it was named flexographic printing because of the volatile liquid color ink made of aniline dyes, and the plate used a rubber plate. However, with the development of science and technology, plates and inks have changed a lot, and flexographic printing has become today's flexographic printing.

6. Special printing

According to different printing materials and processes, special printing can be divided into gold and silver printing; anodized aluminum hot stamping; embossing; die-cutting indentation; metal printing; self-adhesive printing; Bubble printing; inkjet printing; holographic printing, etc.

From the current process, all printing can be classified into four major printing; from the actual materials and characteristics, choosing the correct printing method, of course, printing also includes flexographic printing and special printing
